I've been looking into how to unlock the phone, and have read some conflicting information. Some say if network is disabled, it is unlocked. Others say all items on the list must be disabled. When in the SIM Card options screen it says SIM Card: Security disabled at the top, and SIM - Disabled, Network - Disabled, Network Subset - Disabled, Service Provider - Active, Corporate - Disabled in the list. Is the phone actually unlocked? If I type "MEP alt+2," as per unlocking instructions, there is no prompt to enter an MEP code to unlock. If I press the blackberry button, I do have the option to Change PIN2 code. Is that the same thing?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please see this helpful thread:
Typically, if you are unable to get to the screen where you could enter the unlock code, then the BB is hard-locked to the original carrier (by virtue of the code having been entered wrongly 10 times) and only the RIM factory can now unlock it, which I've heard costs more than just buying a new BB (even if they should agree to try, which I doubt they would).

I took it to a kiosk in the mall that unlocks phones and somehow the guy who works there was able to unlock it. It cost me about $20 CDN. If you are reading this and have the same issue, there is hope!
