Unlock password box. Keypad only allows numeric characters.

I can select aA box which shows in right hand top corner, but this disappears and the 123 box in top right of screen appears when attempting to unlock the keypad.  The 123 box will not turn off while the unlock password box is showing. Alpha characters in my password cannot be entered at all from the keypad, only numeric ones.

So I can't unlock and therefore use phone.

Have removed battery and rebooted a couple of times with no change.

Ideas welcome!

Re: Unlock password box. Keypad only allows numeric characters.

Is this to enter your device password, or your SIM card PIN?

Some people have the SIM card locked and after a reboot the BlackBerry you must first enter a four digit PIN code.

Does that sound familiar?

Sorry - no. This BBRY has no SIM locking issue or password required on reboot.  The problem is just with the normal box saying "Enter PIN Code" .

There's your clue, it wants the SIM PIN lock code, it does NOT want a password, I promise you.

If you don't know your PIN code, call O2 and ask. This is NOT the same as a BlackBerry device PIN (which is eight alpha-numeric characters. This wants a four-digit numeric code.

Believe me. Been there done that.
