Unlocking my phone

I have a big problem.  I used to have a Blackberry Curve 8530 and then I switched to an HTC Evo.  I still have the blackberry because I used it for awhile for the calendar since I love Blackberry's calendar and the HTC didn't have a comprable one.  I stopped using the Blackberry awhile ago since it was a hassle to have two phones on me all the time.  Anyway, I am now involved in a court case and HAVE to retrieve text messages off my Blackberry; some of these texts will be imperative to my case.  I don't remember my password though, and am on my final attempt before my phone is wiped clean and I lose everything, which I can't have happen!  What can I do?  Is there a way that I can get into my phone without losing my texts?  Surely I'm not the only person who has had this happen...needing important info off my phone but not able to remember the password!  Help!!!

Re: Unlocking my phone

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

BBs have the tightest security of all mobile devices. But, a key component in that security is the human element, which is failing in this case. Consequently, the security structure of the BB takes control...and after the 10th failed attempt will wipe the BB clean. There is no "master" or "back door" password to override this...only the human-created password can unlock the BB and prevent the wipe of all data. If there were such a way to prevent this from happening, then BBs would no longer have their highest security rating, after all.

Your only hope is if you had backed up your BB to your PC at some point after those texts arrived...in which case you can obtain a 3rd party IPD/BBB reader to parse the backup file and extract those messages (I've heard MagicBerry has a good reputation). If you never backed up your BB, well...what can I say.

Good luck!

Re: Unlocking my phone

There is no other way to reset the human given password in Blackberry. The only way is to lose all your attempts and all the data will be clean from the phone.
