Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

Hey, I just checked with Movistar and they say it is correctly registered on their data bases.

I realized that in the right top corner, the EDGE is in lower case, and I saw it in uppercase in other BBs, but I don´t know what does mean or how to fix it.

When I try to use BB messanger, it keeps saying that it is registering my BB id with the messanger or some...

Is there anything else I could try?..

Thanks for your help!!

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

The lower case 'edge' and no BlackBerry logo indicates you are NOT connected to the BIS service.

Make sure Movistar has you on the correct BlackBerry data plan, not a generic data plan.

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

Yes, I already confirmed that also.

They have me in the correct data plan, or at least so they say.

Thing is also that I used my sim in other BBs and worked just fine, and tried other sims with BB plan on mines and the problem persists.

So, I was told that BB phones cannot be unlocked because this kind of things happens... And now I'm trying to fix it with no luck so far.

Do you have any other idea?. I really appreciate all your help!!!

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

Try getting a new SIM from your mobile provider and try it.

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

I thought so, but tried using my sim in a different BB and worked fine, so I assumed the problem was not the sim.

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

Make sure the new SIM is provisioned with your account, and with your BlackBerry Data Plan.

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

So you think the problem is on my service provider and not in my phone?.

Thing is, why my sim works in a different BB and not in mine?.

Thanks!

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

There are many different versions of SIM cards. One might work in a BlackBerry and not in another.

The new SIM card might not work, but it's an easy and cheap (free) think to check to rule out.

I am not positive that a Verizon branded device will operate on Cricket... as Cricket utlizes Sprint towers and there could be some prohibition there.
