Updated my Blackberry software, now desktop software does not work with it.

Hi,

I update my blackberry 9900 with 7.0 Bundle 2395 via the desktop software. After the update the desktop software will not connect with my phone that is I cannot sync my phone with my system. It connects with my system to charge or as a USB but does not work with the desk top software. Prior to the update it was working fine.

I verified that the desktop software and my phone software are the same and updated. I even deactivated my antivirus for a while to see if it was conflicting but it behaved the same. I also check to make sure the USB cable and the USB ports are working fine.

PLEASE HELP

That is actually not relevant. The Desktop Software version and the BB OS version are independent of each other. It is always recommended to have the most recent Desktop Software installed to your PC. It is optional (though recommended by me) to also have, installed to your PC, the BB OS package that is presently running on your BB.

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).

Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.

Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.

Hopefully something there is helpful!

Otherwise, I suggest this thread:

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

Good luck!

Re: Updated my Blackberry software, now desktop software does not work with it.

Hi,

To give you an update......

The desktop software prompetd me to update to 7.1 bundle 1646 after which  the problem resloved itself.

Now there is a new update for my phone software but am not going to update it with this lest the issue re-occurs.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Updated my Blackberry software, now desktop software does not work with it.

So, you earlier updated your BB via the Desktop Software. Now the Desktop Software has updated itself. And now further the Desktop Software is prompting for yet another device OS update? That is odd...

But if it's the case, I'd actually advise accepting the BB OS update...an update so quickly following a prior one usually means that there was an important bug to fix (but you have to find release notes to validate that, and you obtain those from your carrier, if they even publish them).

Good luck!
