Voice dial freezes when connected to my Pioneer car stereo

So, I bought a Pioneer fh-p8000bt about 3 months ago, specifically for its built in bluetooth option.  I had an 8800 then, and the voice dialing feature worked great.  I could voice dial by pressing and holding a button on my Pioneer for about 3 seconds.

A few weeks ago, I upgraded to a Bold, and now the voice dialing no longer works.  It connects fine, I can receive, answer calls fine, just the voice dialing feature on the BB freezes on white screen that says "initializing". This happens whether I use the PIoneer or the BB to initialize the voice dialing feature.  Not sure what changed from the 8800 to the 9000, but I am royally ticked.  Now I cannot dial via voice in my car, so the BT on this Pioneer is useless, and using a cell phone will be illegal (except for BT) in a few months.

I called Pioneer, and of course, first they have heard of this and they have no firmware upgrade.

Anyone have any ideas?
