Voice to text function with 7.1 os upgrade.

In the promotion for the 7.1 os upgrade for the Torch 9810, http://za.blackberry.com/software/smartphones/blackberry-7-os.html#tab-1 it is mentioned voice activated universal search is a new feature.  I am unable to find any info regarding how this function can be used.

Moreover, when I look at 'options', then 'about device versions' then proceed to the third page (by either back arrowing or attempting to return to ALL function layout, it arrives at a page

Nuance VSuite

Version 4.0

V 4.0.21 (b2.6)

Device Blackberry 9810

"This device is powered by speech recognition software from Nuance Communications Inc.

I am able to find no information anywhere regarding this feature.

I contacted the carrier and they were unable to provide any details.  They then referred me to Blackberry.  They knew nothing about this feature either.

Is this part of the 7.1 os upgrade?  Does it work and how to utilize it?

There are those of us that are waiting til the Q10 becomes available in the USA.  Until then, the speech to text feature would enhance the smartphone considerably.

The ability to note information in a contact or to dictate an e-mail while hurrying through an airport is quite valuable.  The  capability to dictate a text message to a busy family member is quite important..

Any information on Voice: text functionality of the 7.1 os would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance-

Re: Voice to text function with 7.1 os upgrade.

Hello Gene54,

To complete a Voice enabled search on the BlackBerry® smartphone complete the following:

(Note: must be connected to the wireless network.)

1. On the Home screen, in the upper-right corner, click the search icon.
2. Click the microphone icon.
3. Say your search terms.
To stop a search, press the Esc key twice.

Also the followoing Inside BlackBerry Help Blog provides information on voice enabled search:

I hope this helps.
