WAV attachments. Is there an application that would allow me to hear them?

Where I work, our voicmails and faxes post to my outlook.  I get far more Voicemails, especially when I am out of the office which is a common occurance which is why I needed a smartphone.

Love the phone so far but being able to play the WAV files that my voicemails put in my inbox would be the bomb.

Any ideas?

I must be missing something, are you talking about listening to your Voivemail and hearing Wav files?

Or are you talking about emails with *wav files?

Thanks,

I think kensails has a voicemail that gets converted automatically into a wave file that is then sent attached to a mail. So the problem is the ability for the Blackberry to read a wav attachment.

If the .wav files are an attachement, you got the bomb!!

If this answers your question please take a minute and resolve the post, Thanks!

Absolutely not. It you have a handheld device software that is 4.2 or older, you cannot open a wav attachment in a message. The crazy paradox is that :
  • you can listen to a wave file from the blackberry Browser
  • you can listen to a wave file on your Memory card
  • you can listen to a wave file that is contained in a zip that is attached to a mail
  • you can't listen to a wave file that is attached to a mail
  • you can't save a wave file that is attached to a mail

Since July 16th, the iPhone can listen to wav attachment. They did that in 10 months (since the iPhone 1).
Bifocals, can you tell us if you can listen to a wav attachment on your OS 4.3 ?

One solution is to ask the voicemail2mail system to create an mp3 file instead of a wav file. But that possibility is very rare.

another solution is to listen to the wav with a webmail. If you have access to a corporate Outlook Web Access, you can use it.

Or ou can order your Outlook to forward every mail containing a wave file to be sent to another email of yours. That is explained here :

On my 8330 V 4.3 I just played a *wav attachement,

What OS do you have Kensails?

Re: WAV attachments. Is there an application that would allow me to hear them?

Vonage can send out emails with a voicemail wav attachment.  With OS 4.3 I could listen to a wav file email attachment.  With OS 4.5 I have to choose the option "Download and Play" and it will play the wav file.  The next time I open the same email attachment it will play without downloading.  I wonder when it downloads if it saves it somewhere?

If it says "download" and play, the only place I could think for it to save is music or ringtones? Don't have a clue Smiley Happy
