Weird USB Charging Problem!!

[ Edited ]

I've got the weirdest USB charging problem with my Blackberry 8900 and was wondering if anybody had the same issues and how to solve it!

Basically my phone wasn't charging from the USB when connected to the computer or when I connected it with the plug socket. Whenever I plugged the USB into the computer it said the device wasn't recognised so I did my research and did everything that all the forums say to do - restart it, download the drivers again, reboot, etc.

Anyway, we have an old USB hub that is connected to the computer that contains 4 of the old USB 1.0 sockets rather than the newer, and faster, USB 2.0 ones which all computers and laptops have. I connect it up through this old hub and the phone suddenly connects and starts charging!?

Does anybody know why it will only charge through an old USB 1.0 hub and nothing else?? I'm more concerned that the actual plug charger doesn't even work for it!!
