Wet battery - pink indicator - will it damage new phone?

I sent my 8330 to the bottom of the pool.  Tried drying it out and got red light, but that's it.  Took it to my provider (Verizon) and the tech looked inside my BB and on the base of my battery and saw Pink indicators on both - so told me both BB and battery are toast and I need to order new ones.  QUESTION:  if I try to use the battery w Pink indicator in my new BB, am I risking it?  Would like to avoid buying new battery but don't want to spoil new BB!

Thanks - I did see that link earlier, and tried out the options on my BB.  My question is about the BATTERY - might it damage my NEW BB when I receive it?  thx

I would recommend to take the battery to repair shop and check its voltage and other characteristics.

Moisture can damage the battery internals, and this damaged battery can damage a device.

Without question, I would recommend a new battery.

Re: Wet battery - pink indicator - will it damage new phone?

I think I've broke my phone now. I dropped it in the sink,it got completely soaked so I quickly disabled it and put it into rice. 16 hours later I tried turning it on without the sim,it worked. Then I tried it with the sim but it didn't work. Is it my fault for turning it on too early or is there a problem with my sim or phone?

Re: Wet battery - pink indicator - will it damage new phone?

ugh, leave it in the rice for 4-5 days, no checking it!

You might still be able to save it,

I hope!
