Re: Where do I find the synchronization log?

I am plagued by this same annoying message.  I don't see a solution here, so in an attempt to find an answer I'll restate the problem but also supply the contacts sync log below.  I don't think I have any BB address groups but I don't know how to verify that potential solution.  The problem seems to be related to the log entry:

SKIP "<Key Fields Empty>"
   ADD "<Unspecified>"

Here is the error message that pops up after a sync:

There was a total of 3 records skipped during the synchronization as summarized below:

Address Book: Device - 0, Microsoft Outlook - 3

Please check the synchronization log for more details

Here is the log:

Re: Where do I find the synchronization log?

OK, now either I am completely brain dead or the software has changed radically since this post.

You said: "I don't recall what version of DM you are using, but in DM 4.7, DM > Sync > Synchronization > View Log."

As if on the BB DT Manager there were a menu item that allowed a drill down from Sync to Synchronization to View Log

There is no such thing on my BB. When I click the Synch icon, it immediately starts synchronizing.

Can someone please tell me in simple terms, where the devil IS this menu you speak of???????

I attached a picture below. Please explain which icon I hit to get to it...

Re: Where do I find the synchronization log?

I'm not sure if any of you have found a solution to the issue yet, but I just stumbled upon this thread as I was having the same problem.  First off, I'm going to assume you're trying to sync with Outlook so here is the fix that I found:

  1. In Outlook, go to your contacts
  2. At the top of the screen in the menu bar, click on Tools
  3. From the Tools menu (in Outlook 2007) click Instant Search > Advanced Find.  In Outlook 2003 and later, you'll click Tools > Find > Advanced Find
  4. In the Advanced Find dialog box that pops up, click the Advanced tab
  5. Click Field > Frequently Used Fields > First Name
  6. In the Condition drop-down menu, select Is Empty
  7. Click Add to List
  8. Repeat steps 5-7 to add Last Name as well
  9. Click Find Now and delete any entries that may be different or unusal.  In my case, I had inadvertently created a contact without entering any information so my BlackBerry wasn't able to recognize a contact without any information attached to it, thus creating the error that we've all seen.

That should work for you.  If it doesn't, I recommend you search the forums at www.crackberry.com.  To my knowledge it's the one site that has the most BlackBerry users that are willing to help.  Plus, every time I've needed a solution to a problem I've always found the answer there...including the answer to this problem.  Here is the link to the Crackberry forum where I found the answer.

Hope that helps!

Re: Where do I find the synchronization log?

imo you want to know the log file for the purpose of knowing what you have synced.

goto ->Desktop application->tools->desktop options->configure sync-logging options->view organizer sync log
