Wi Fi Problem

I have A BB 9700 Bold.  I have had no difficulty with Wi Fi until recently.  The phone indicates it is connected to the Wi Fi in question but when I try to connect to a web site, the message I get is "unable to find the requested server".  This has happened at all wi fi hotspots I tried to use recently.  When I am out of range of the wi fi hotspot, I have no difficulty connecting to the web. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Wi Fi Problem

Hello!

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Best!

Re: Wi Fi Problem

Thanks for your help.  Just before I posted my query I did what might be called a soft reboot in that I turned the BB off, removed the battery and after a short while, replaced the battery and restarted.  However, it did not appear to solve the problem and so I posted my query.  When I got your reply, I decided to try what you suggested but, as I was a little nervous about removing the battery while the BB was still powered on, before doing it I checked once more whether or not the WIFI connection was working and to my surprise, I was able to connect the web.  I have no idea what sorted it!  However, thanks again for your help.

By the way, was I being overly concerned about removing the battery while it was still powered on?

Re: Wi Fi Problem

Hi. I'm glad that worked out for you...you are most welcome. And yes, you were being overly concerned...the power ON batt pull is the cleanest reboot that a BB can get...but it is still just that, a reboot...all data is preserved.
