Hello, i have a Bold and am with orange (UK if that makes a difference). I have wi-fi enabled with unlimited data on my plan but can only access the internet using Wi-fi and only when i'm at home (as i have it set up to my home internet service).
I've heard about 'wi-fi hotspots' but have no idea what one is exactly and where they are (yes im a noob when it comes to wi-fi, and 3G for that matter) and am wondering how i can access internet when i'm not at home. Currently my browser brings up a message saying that it needs wi-fi to work and can't when i'm not in range of my home network.
I've also seen people mention that they use 3G to access the internet and was also wondering how i can do that (i think ive got 3G enabled as i sometimes pick it up for my signal - but i dont know anything about how it works and how to use it for internet access)

Hi, I don't know if this will help but I had a similar problem when I first got the phone from Orange UK.
I only had access thru wi-fi until after I had waited the 24-48 hours for the phone to be registered as orange told me then still found I could only access via wi-fi.
I called orange again and found that the £2.50 blackberry addon had not been added on to my package, they then added it, all the service books came thru and hey presto! full access with gprs etc.

First thing is to try and call from your bb, if you immediately get a recorded message from orange, this meanns your phone is not registered or isn't fully registered yet.
It maybe that you need to wait a while longer or that the shop where your bought it did not register it.
Either way I would just give orange a call, you can find the number on their website, I would say to use the 0800 number if your not calling from the mobile, they will put you through to the correct dept cos if you don't call from the mobile you will need to use the premium number, mega bucks!!
If you can call out from your phone then just call orange using the proceedure I said above and ask if the BlackBerry option is on your contract.
