Re: WiFi Problems

On your 8520, go to Options > Advanced > Browser, and set the browser to HOTSPOT and save the setting.

Now, when you are connected to WiFi, you should be able to use that WiFi browser, and a few other third party applications. No other BlackBerry data applications (BBMessenger, email, Facebook for BlackBerry, etc.) will work solely over WiFi.

Re: WiFi Problems

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

Now try again.

Re: WiFi Problems

On your Manage Connections screen, at WiFi network, what do you see there?

Your WiFi router name? A white dash? A green check mark?

Re: WiFi Problems

The white dash indicates you're connected to the WiFi router but with no connection to the BlackBerry BIS network.
