Wifi connected but not working

Hi, I'm new to Blackberry and just got my Torch 9860 a few days ago. I've been trying to connect to wifi, but it's not working. I've turned off data services, as my plan doesn't cover it, and I've checked wifi in Manage Connections. At different places- home, coffee shop, etc., it says that I've connected to the wifi network, and I see the little symbol in the top right corner, but when I open my browser and try to load a website, it says "unable to connect to the internet, please try again later."

Help please?

Re: Wifi connected but not working

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

From what you describe, you do not subscribe to BlackBerry Internet Service, which is required for a variety of BB-proprietary services. In some cases, this may include use of the native BB Browser. You can look in the Browser options to see if there is a way to configure it to not require BIS. Or you can find an alternate browser (e.g., Opera Mini) that does not require BIS.

Good luck!
