Re: Windows Live Messenger on 9000 Bold

I had previously got the unsupported device error.

But I tried again 3 days ago and WALA... it works.

LIVE Messenger downloads and works...

I'm on Optus - Australia.

Cheers,

Jason

Re: Windows Live Messenger on 9000 Bold

The link in this thread - http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=Bold&thread.id=940 - contains instructions on how to get WLM enabled on an Orange UK phone for those of you who don't want to pay to use Orange's version.

I haven't a chance to try it yet so I'd be interested to see if it works.

Pradeep.

MSN isint available on the bold as of yet (you can blame microsoft for this). The html versiondoes however work but you need to manualy refresh the page. Unlike MSN yahoo works quite well. It is available from the black berry handset help site.

ossprey - what are you talking about?

I'm using Windows Live Messenger on my bold right now! And it's brilliant! (Although it kills your battery pretty darn quick).

You should be able to get it from:

Re: Windows Live Messenger on 9000 Bold

I've just got a blackberry bold on vodafone here in the UK, and when I go to download from www.blackberry.com/livemessenger/ on the phone it says: "Notice. Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Windows live Messenger."

Any way around this, or any news on when it will be fixed?

[ Edited ]

How to get WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER on your BlackBerry Bold 9000 if on Orange UK or any other carrier I reckon too.

Firstly sort out Maps because it's great and you must. (Whether it has any bearing on downloading WLM I don't know?). Follow the guide here to install Maps on you BB.

Next use your BB to go to the following link: http://www.blackberry.com/devicesoftware/entry.do?code=wlm20

Or go to the BlackBerry HELP! link in your Browser Bookmarks.

Sorted. It works using WiFi if you turn your Mobile Network off in Manage Connections. So useful abroad!

I'm super happy now as Maps and WLM is what I've been waiting for. Also Google Maps is cool too and that works in WiFi only too.

Can't get LiveSearch to work tho.
