I recently decided to enable content protection and content compression on my Bold. Later, when I turned on my phone and went to Tasks, all of my tasks are reading as "<Content Protection is Enabled>". I can click on the task itself, and that is the only text there. It appears that my tasks have been overwritten with that text. I disabled content compression and content protection, saved changes and pulled out the battery to see if it would make the tasks come back, but it didn't work, and all of the tasks still read the same.
I should say that I am also using GooSync to sync my tasks on the blackberry to the tasks on goosync.com. All of my tasks on Goosync.com now also read "<Content Protection is Enabled>". This may or may not have something to do it.
Would anyone be able to shed any light on what exactly happened here?
Thank you in advance,

Hi and welcome to the forums,
I was doing some reading before answering the thread. Do far I haven't got the answer.
You can for a fact though turn on content compression, it will save you memory and
has nothing to do with content protection.
here is what we are dealing with:
I will keep looking.

Bifocals-thanks. I also just noticed that in some of my contacts, some email addresses, and some of the notes at the base of the contacts, are also showing up with the same "<Content Protection is Enabled>". For whatever reason, it seems like all of the phone numbers themselves are all intact.
To further confuse the situation, I am 100% positive that, back when I did enable content protection, I selected "NO" under the 'Include Contacts' field.

Do you have a good backup of your device from BEFORE this hapenned?

My most recent backup is a sparseimage of the entire drive of my mac about 2 weeks ago, though much has been updated since then......
My guess is that the issue had something to do with the syncing of the contacts and tasks to the google servers via goosync/syncje. I am guessing that the fields in the contacts and tasks that were affected must have displayed as "<Content Protection is Enabled>" to goosync, which saw them as updated fields and synced accordingly.
Still, it is strange that somehow the contacts were affected when I KNOW that I explicitly did NOT include them in the content protection. Could the content COMPRESSION (which I ALSO had enabled at the same time) be contributing to that?

No it's two completely different functions.
If you changed the content protection, I wonder if the device is "unaware that it is off.
GO TO OPTIONS/ADVANCED OPTIONS/HOST ROUTING TABLES/menu key REGISTER NOW
You will an activation email when complete, this refreshes the tables.
I would then login to the BIS sire or use the BB to send service books. When complete
you will get an activation email per account. I do not think this will change the (encryption)?
on the documents to gmail, but it might release the contacts.
If you want to use the BIS site via PC send me the carrier and I'll send you the site.

Ok. Under 'Host Routing Table', there are 18 different "Cingular [310XXXXX]" entries. I wasn't sure which one to Register, so I did the first one. Then, to possibly complicate things, I also did the one near the end of the list that was in boldface type.
Either way, when I was done I got 2 registration email notifications.
I then went to http://mycingular.blackberry.com/ and sent the service books.
Sadly, this did not seem to fix anything. Unless I maybe selected the wrong "Cingular[310XXXXX]" ?

Nope that want it:
I said options/advanced options/host routing tables/menu register now.
you just open the category and press the menu key select the option for register now.
Do you know your carriers BIS site? send me the carrier, and I'll send you the link.
