app world without wifi curve 3g

I bought a blackberry curve 3g yesterday and set everything to work as normal. All the email, phone, internet and browsers, and bb I'm all work perfectly. And bb app world works WITH wi fi. But when I try to access bb app world without wifi the following message comes up " you are currently on a service plan that requires wifi connection to use this application. If you want to use this application outside of wifi please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan" . A similar message about data plan appears when trying to access the facebook app at any point

I phoned vodafone and they said everything was fine at their end and I have all the correct data plan and bb services and keep directing me here. So I don't know what the problem is and would very much appreciate help. Thanks in advance

Re: app world without wifi curve 3g

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!!

I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network

2) Resend Service Books

  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

Now that is really sad. As your carrier, they are 100% responsible for ALL of your formal support. If they cannot resolve an issue, they have the ability (indeed, responsibility!) to escalate your case into RIM at no charge to you. By fobbing you off here, they have violated that service agreement with you since these forums 1) have nothing to do with your formal support and 2) are in no way a channel by which to receive support from RIM. If the above does not work, then I suggest you call them back, but this time insist on escalation.

Good luck!

Re: app world without wifi curve 3g

hi thanks for your reply.

i tried the steps that you told me but unfortunately the same message still shows.with the registering on the HRT there was quite a few numbers to choose but i chose the one that was bold already.

the problem is bb app works fine on wi fi but without it it comes up with that message. its soo annoying ! facebook comes up with the message '' you a re currently on a service plan that does not support this application. if you want to use this application please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan'' so i dont know if its going to be one silly setting to change or something.

i was looking on the manage connections part of the phone and when you turn the wi fi off, the blackberry internet service and blackberry enterprise server each say no connection. i dont know if this is relevant or not, because like i said before the browsers all work fine.

if not is there anything else you suggest i do before i phone vodafone... again!

thanks in advance

It actually does not matter...when you re-register, they all get re-initialized.

That is very relevant. When you shut off WiFi, BIS (and BES, if you have it) should shift back to using your carrier data network. Something is definitely not right there...so contact them and insist on escalation.

Good luck!
