bing

I have the BB 9550 storm 2. It has bing as the default search engine and I don't like it. Is there a way to change it to google? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Re: bing

From the browser click the black berry button on the phone.

Choose options -> Default Search Provider

Hello,

There are several threads throughout these forums about BING being forced onto users BBs. The consensus seems to be that this is something the carriers (especially VZW, it seems) are doing...and, from all that anyone can tell, they are completely within their rights (per their contract with you) to do so. What it seems happens is that they (the carrier) push out a teaser icon for BING. Once you select and install it, your previous choices for search provider are overridden and you are forced to use BING and only BING. And I can't recall a single post where someone figured out how to fall back.

For me, when that icon arrived, I never selected it and hid it away. And I still have all of my prior search providers available to me. But, those who report to have selected the icon report further to be forced to use BING with no fallback available.

But, again, the carriers seem to be within their rights to do this...so complaints should go to them.

Best!
