blackberry 9900 malfunction

acquired bb 9900 software version is 7.1 bundle 1149, 11 months ago but its now mulfunctioning in a away that it just goes offline even though it doesnt show,no messages or calls come in and i have either to switch off and on or remove battery and return in which it wors for a few minutes and again goes 'off line'.

when i do cellular network connection issues sometimes blackberry ready test passes and sometimes fails.

what could the issue be?

To rule out any software that may be causing this, please try to back up your data and perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software. For further instructions, please see the following KB articles.

Please test to make sure all issues are resolved before restoring any data from your backup file.
