I would suggest creating a full backup of your data by using BlackBerry Desktop Software (Device>Backup). Then follow the steps in this KB article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320
Test the performance of the BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphone prior to restoring any data.
