blank screen on curve 9220

Hi, my first 9220 after 2 weeks just got a blanc screen but could make voice calls so i gave it away, i got anotherone for christmas and after 4 months it does the same thing but this time blanc with the backlight on. tried to reboot but nothing helps. i thought it was a hardware problem with the LCD but when i took it back tho the shop they just said they are out of stock to replace it and cant repair it because 20 other customers came with the same problem and they have since stoped ordering the curve 9220. is this a hardware problem of software problem?

At an internet distance, it's nearly impossible to truly diagnose anything at all. What you describe sounds like hardware, but it could be software also. To test, I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.


If the behavior ceases, then it was software...so think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.


But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you would have to continue with further diagnostic steps to try and narrow down the cause. The things to try would include WIPE, OS Reload, OS Update, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS reload diagnostic process. All of this would be quite tedious, and even still will not result in a true diagnosis if the problem indeed is hardware. All these tests will do is rule things out bit by bit, until the most likely thing left is hardware...but even then it's merely an indicator, not a true diagnosis. Such can only be obtained from a qualified hardware technician with the device in their hands.
