i have reload software 561 on my cell and nothing else happens. is the cell dead

Dead?  No, just not in great condition at the moment.

 

If you reload the phone's OS, you should be able to get back to normal.  To do this, plug your phone in to your PC and open BlackBerry Desktop Software.  Once your phone has connected, click Device at the top of the software then Restore.  Choose the most recent restore point and load it.
