bold 9790

hi, at each time i try to back up my bb bold9790, it stops at the end and doesn't move anymore. I have the latest version of blackberry desktop software, hence i can't anymore make device too in the latest version due to this back up problem. Could anyone help? Smiley Happy

Hello,

Exactly what method of backup are you using, please? Desktop Software for PC or MAC?

And, is there any indication, at the point that it stops, of what is happening then? Does it say what data it's backing up? What exactly does the screen say?

How long do you wait? There are cases I've heard of where waiting a very long time might be necessary to allow a backup to complete.

hello,

 

i'm using desktop software for PC, at the stage it stops i can read on the screen : backing up smart card option 1 out 1 . I've waited for 16h hours at least but it did move.

 

what is strange is i don't have smart card on my device.

Ahhhh...very helpful, thank you! Refer:

  • KB29522 "Error backing up databases" message is generated at Smart Card Options database when backing up the BlackBerry smartphone using the BlackBerry Desktop Software
  • KB33245 BlackBerry Desktop Software freezes when attempting to backup the BlackBerry smartphone

Even though the referenced error messages are not presented in your case, I believe these to be the cause (and solution) to your situation.

i tried both methods, but when the back up start nothing happen then. i've waited for 6hours but it didn't finish.

 

Do i need to wait more?

Well, I really have no way to know how long is "long enough" to wait. 6 hours sounds excessive, but not impossible. Usually, clearing the content databases as discussed in those KBs clears the problem when it presents as you described. But, you didn't describe this time at what stage it was stalled at, so we can't guess. Of course, you can easily search the public KB database for more potential solutions.
