First post - exciting!
I have installed Windows Live Messenger on my Blackberry 900 Bold aswell as on my laptop. Once logged on to Windows Live Messenger from my Blackberry I logged onto Windows Live Messenger on my laptop using the same account. According to the the help on Windows Live messenger (on the laptop) you can be logged in to Windows Live Messenger from multiple locations using the same account and simply need to untick the following option under "Sign-In": "Sign me out of all other places when I sign in to Messenger"
I have done this but when I log in to Windows Live Messenger on my laptop it automatically disconnects me from the session on my Blackberry and vic-versa.
Any help or additional information would be appreciated.

Although Windows Messenger for Blackberry is called "Windows Live Messenger", the actual MSNP (MS Notification Protocol) it uses is probably something like MSNP 10 or older. As far as I remember, Windows Messenger 7.0 first introduced offline messaging and it was using MSNP 13..
I can't be entirely sure about these protocols because I've never done any mobile development before but I think those protocols will share some similarities with PC clients to a certain point...Anyway..simply put, MSN for Blackberry is more like MSN 6.0 in Live Messenger interface.
