I do want to use the bb to access the internet via wifi . when i click the browser i get a msg: unable to connect to the Internet, please try again.  the bb says im connected wifi. Do I need to have a service provider llike a phone company in order to use the wifi services? thanks

Re: curve 9300

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

In some cases, yes. Some OS levels did not have a pure Internet Browser available to them, and only had the BB Browser available, which requires a service plan. But, your OS level will be the key to understanding that:

  • KB23393 How to check the model number and version of installed BlackBerry device software on a BlackBerry smartphone

As far as I recall, anything prior to OS6 required a Service Plan, and the browser does not have the option of setting it to "hot spot" or something other than the integrated BB browser (you can check those options as well, of course).

Good luck and let us know!
