desktop software not working

Was working fine.

Now it's not.

Cable via USB.

Password fine.

Error says: trouble with connect.  remove cord and reconnect.

I've done that about 100 times.

Re: desktop software not working

Have you tried rebooting your PC and then reconnecting?

Re: desktop software not working

Yes,

I've rebooted numerous times.

I've unstalled the blackberry from device manager, and reinstalled.

I am still getting "Communication error...re-connect to establish a new connection."

I even tried on a different computer - same problem.

Re: desktop software not working

the answer might be as stupid as the wire is bad, whether its a short or just a fluke.  try a new wire yet? its just a regular USB to USB-A (or B, i forget which one looks like what).  try that.

Re: desktop software not working

I just tried a different wire.

No luck.

(It's properly charging through the wire, btw).

I'm also getting the "device password required" pop up box over and over again.  It finds the device USB-PIN-XXXXX, takes my password, (doesn't reject it) but then asks over and over again.

I can't help but thinking I inadvertently changed some setting on the device which is preventing connection.

Re: desktop software not working

No, there is nothing on the device that you can change that would prevent it from connectiong. If you have a recent backup you could try entering the password incorrectly 10 times. Afterwards the device will wipe all user data and you will start from scratch.
