I've rebooted numerous times.
I've unstalled the blackberry from device manager, and reinstalled.
I am still getting "Communication error...re-connect to establish a new connection."
I even tried on a different computer - same problem.

I just tried a different wire.
(It's properly charging through the wire, btw).
I'm also getting the "device password required" pop up box over and over again. It finds the device USB-PIN-XXXXX, takes my password, (doesn't reject it) but then asks over and over again.
I can't help but thinking I inadvertently changed some setting on the device which is preventing connection.
