your connection to the mobile network is turned on but you are no in the wireless coverage area
browser can be surf. cant create mail from setup.

do you see any connectivity icon next to your signal strength? Like EDGE, edge, 3G or GSM? Or does it just show the signal bars? Also do you see any connection activity indicators? (small arrows on the top right).
Lastly I would check the device service books, to make sure it has the right service books installed. Also a reboot could help to see if it is fixed and to make sure it connects to the wireless network correctly. You might also want to check your Firewall Settings, though I do not think that is where the issue lays..
If everything fails, you could try a software update / restore.
Obviously you would also need a Blackberry Service plan which has been activated. If the equipment and the plan is new, waiting a bit can help, as it may take up to 24h (at least here) to activate a new plan - though I have to admir, I never saw that yet.
