My Carrier: Vodacom (South Africa)

freeze, White Screen, needs restart - 9300 Curve

Hi there, I'm back!

I now have a 9300 Curve.

The last 4 or 5 days I've run into an irritating problem.

Country - South Africa
Carrier - Vodacom
OS - V6.0.0.668,Platforn 6.6.0.236

Extra apps (non standard)
- foursquare
- whatsapp
- weather trax
- photo notes

There are 87 notes saved on my phone, as I don't find a setting to save it on the memory card. The rest, photos, pictures, videos, music is all on the memory card.

As soon as I go onto Twitter, Facebook, read large email or just use BBM, the phone will often:
- Freeze up, immediately give a white screen, turn on the little red light (top right hand corner as if to start up) and then I have to remove the battery.

This happens upto 30 or 40 times a day.

How ever.
If I:
- exit Weathertrax,
- Log out of Facebook
- log out of foursquare
Or
- turn off all data,
The phone does not Freeze up.

The freezing happens with the memory card in or out of the phone.

Thanx for the support.

Re: freeze, White Screen, needs restart - 9300 Curve

Hey DeonTlotz,

I would suggest backing up and doing a clean reload of the BlackBerry® device software as shown here: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320. Please test before restoring any data to the device.

If this resolves the issue do a selective restore of essential data (Address Book, Calendar, Task, Memos, BBM contacts etc.)
How to use BlackBerry® Desktop Software to restore data to a BlackBerry® smartphone from a backup file

If the issue still persists after the reload, further investigation might be required. To help further diagnose the cause, contact your wireless service provider or BlackBerry® Technical Support Services for further review and support.

Thank you.
