help me! blackberry storm touch screen

Ookay, I have the first blackberry storm, dont mind it. i bought it off someone barely used and still had everything - screen protector, no scratches. ect.
I am a phone addict yes, i use my phone for everything.

my touch screen last week for about four hours wouldnt let me click on anything, it would highlight the icons just wouldnt open. now its doing it again but its staying that way, my bottom buttons no longer click either. i still have almost a year left on my contract. someone please help me fix this quick Smiley Happy

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

I had already done that lastnight a few times. still the same. i thought it would be like this for a few hours again like last week but its still not letting me open any thing or answer calls.

Oh...sorry, I had no way to know that you'd already tried that. My clairvoyance app has not been working and the developer/deity is not returning my requests for help.

While we're on that...what else have you already tried?

And, since this came on suddenly, what happened just before it started? A new app? An update? An app removed? Think carefully as the tiniest thing could be causal.

i had no updates of any kind, im on a student plan and limited in what im aloud to do, i just use it daily for bbm text & fb is all. it was on the charger and someone had called and the phone answered by itself which was weird and than after the call i had tried to check a bbm and the highlighting of the icons was all over the place when it wouldnt open i clicked my blackberry button and the menu popped up but still couldnt click anything than it just started doing it on its own and moved the files in different order than afterwards it just wouldnt work period.

Given all you describe, all I can think of is an OS reload...here's my preferred method:


At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for each model. Please use those as reference as you proceed.

From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:

 

 

Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. You can even use a different carriers OS package by simply inserting, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, of a file named VENDOR.XML. Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

If the problem is hardware related, then no amount of software will cure it. You should probably try loading your OS clean and no add-ons...see if it operates smoothly. Only then start (slowly) adding other apps.

hi, there may be some problem in your internal cache memory,  so that the phone will be hanging for long time..you need to clear the unwanted memory...
