how do i backup my fone when the desktop manager does not recognize the device connected and also when i am updating the os, there z a option connecting to device but it does not connect

That sounds like a driver problem...What OS is your PC running? I suggest you go to device manager on your Computer while your Blackberry is still connected, identify Blackberry Smartphone in device manager and select uninstall device, then uninstall the Desktop management software...Restart your computer and reinstall the Desktop Software for PC then connect the blackberry and update the drivers.
