I was very disappointed that RIM partnered with AT&T.
To me it was a very very bad move.
Sooo many ppl want the 9800 and will not get it because it’s AT&T only.
Even Apple is going to stop their deal with AT&T because they know they can make more money without AT&T bad services.
Most ppl will not want to bother with unlocking the phone or will never know about being able to unlock it.
So just to make sure if I go buy the 9800 Torch from AT&T, I can use it on my T-Mobile service correct?
T-Mobile is GSM I think so should be ok but wanted to double check with all you gurus.
Not sure about the OS either.
I have changed my OS to something else from the T-Mobile OS.
Does any other company besides AT&T have a BB 6.0 OS to offer or will I be stuck on the **bleep**ty AT&T tweaked OS?

It wil work on t mobile, but no 3g signal only EDGE.
You will also have to get the service books for it as well and manually install them.
The OS is not made by AT&T, but blessed by them for use on their network.

I have tested following with ATT and Bell BlackBerry Torch 9800 myself, and several people have also confirmed that the unlocking of BlackBerry 9800 Torch is working.
[removed unauthorized link]
Following were the instructions I received.
1 - Switch ON your Blackberry 9800 Torch with your current network/service provider's SIM card.
2 - Using the menu go to Settings Menu -> SIM card and press select.
3 - While holding the SHIFT key, type mepd.(NOTE: You may not see any text appear on the screen while typing mepd)
4 - You should now see the five locking categories listed.
5 - While holding the SHIFT KEY, type mep2.(NOTE: You may not see any text appear on the screen while typing mep2).
6 - Release the shift key.
7 - You will now be prompted to enter the Network MEP code. (it will also state how many attempts left)
8 - Enter the Unlock Code.
9 - Enter Return/Enter.
10 - The Blackberry 9800 Torch should then be unlocked.
Please let me know if you need further help and I would be happy to reply.
