impossible to update bold 9000

i've a bold 9000 which has been running fine for the past 3 years...n i ntend to use it till bb 10 is out..i've been trying to update it to bb5(which is the only one available). i downloaded the update file for my carrier, unzipped it, installed it n all....i used the apploader option in the RIM folder but it never shows the  operating  system i want too install...only countless  other programs. i even tried downgrading the desktop software from 7.1 to 4.5  hoping that would do the job...but nothing is  working out...its a rather outdated question but pls help...i've tried almost every option provided in various discussionsSmiley Frustrated

Hello newbie 9900

Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums

The problem may be because of any Vendor .Xml files ,If you are having problem I prefer start it from beginning, try it this way But before that Uninstall any OS packs from your PC :

1.Locate your Carrier and Download the OS you desire from here and Install it in your PC or Laptop Carriers

  • (make sure you are downloading for the same model as you have )

2. Download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software

  •     Then using desktop software perform your full backup of your device.

3.Search your C: drive for Vendor.xml and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml ( On your Pc change your folders option to show hidden files/folders ) :

  •     C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
  •     C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

5. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. (For 64-bit Vista or Windows 7, the path       will be C: > Program Files x86 > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader) double click Loader.exe

Upgrade will continue then After Installation of New OS restore your backup from BlackBerry desktop
