Certain keys on my Curve 8300 keypad are not working, the Q A W and space bar are pretty much non-working. If I hold them down hard 1 out of 10 times I'll get them to work. I've only had a replacement blackberry for a couple of months, so it is fairly new and I take care of it, keep it in a case and have not dropped it or exposed it to water or sand, etc. Any ideas.

battery pull should always be your option as mentioned
next you are either looking at 1 of 3 other options, possibly all 3
1. security wipe (options-security options- general... menu button- wipe handheld)
2. reinstall device software(upgrade if available)
3. take it apart and clean behind the keyboard (there is a link somewhere here on how to take apart a BB, but you may void warrenty with this option)
if none of those work, unfortunately its a replacement

I am also having similar problems with my Blackberry Curve 8310. Along with my A, Q, and W buttons not functioning properly, many other keys when pressed will show multiple numbers and letters on the screen. Along with that, my call button will not work from time to time leaving me unable to unlock my phone. I have tried the steps along with discussing the problem with my provider (Rogers) along with tech support and each keep referring me to one another. Is there any possible hope of receiving help, or is it simply useless? This is now my third phone with Blackberry, and it is beginning to become a growing issue with me.

I caught a break. My phone was still under warranty and I received a replacement phone today. My co-worker has the same model phone as I do and he has to reset his phone daily to keep the text function working properly. I was told by my phone service provider that if the reset (either by removing the battery or doing the hard reset) doesn't fix the keypad issue it is likely a hardware issue. I was on the phone for a total of 5 minutes with the support people and they did not seemed surprised about my problem. The 5 minute call included setting up the delivery of my new phone. We will see how long this one works. The other phone lasted about 90 days.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
