MaybeI am being incredibly dim; have just set up sync via desktop only.....I do not have exchange server or anything yet I get at least one (sometimes more) of these messages every hour.

Below are some of the cause and their resolution.....
You configured mail delivery to personal folders instead of your Inbox.
To change your mail delivery settings
For Outlook 2000 and earlier
For Outlook 2003 and Outlook XP
The mail system is slow.
Note: This might be caused by a Microsoft Exchange Server which has reached capacity.
Move the user´s mailbox to an Exchange Server with less traffic.
Desktop Redirector is not running.
Delete the service book on the device and generate a new encryption key.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail, proceed to the following steps to uninstall Desktop Software and remove the service book.

During the Desktop Software installation, you selected Desktop Redirector even though you have a BlackBerry Enterprise Server account.
Delete the service book on the device and modify the Desktop Software installation to prevent the service book from returning.
