new update notice?

I just got a new update on my 7.1? I don't know what number. I currently have .580 so it must be a higher number? Do any of you think it is safe to do the OTA VS using desktop mgr?

Re: new update notice?

Hello,

I always highly recommend AGAINST ever doing an OTA update. The OTA update takes an on-device backup of your data, which it restores after the update completes. But, if anything goes wrong during the process, that backup is lost forever. Using a computer allows you to take a backup to your computer, and that file will forever be available to you as the source of restore should something catastrophic happen during the update process.

Good luck!

Re: new update notice?

You are welcome...

Additionally, the OTA updates only offer those OS packages that your specific carrier sanctions (the carriers control the OTA updates for their users). Via the proper tricks with the computer, you can use any OS package from any carrier, as long as it's for your exact model BB. Many carriers are much slower at releasing OS updates and you can often be much farther ahead by using OS packages from others.

Cheers!

Re: new update notice?

My update to 7.1.0.755 seems to have better battery life.
