no sound when i receive blackberry instant message

Please help don't know what I have done but I do not receive a notification noise when I receive a bbm instant message I go into the sound settings and have it set at level 10 but still no noise any ideas what I can do

Hi there,

 

Start by rebooting the device.  While the phone is on, remove the battery for 15-30 seconds, then reinsert and wait for the device to reboot.  If you want to be really thorough or if the initial reboot does not work, leave the battery out for a full 5 minutes.  This has helped other users in similar situations.
