Backup to the media card, and backup via Desktop Manager was removed with the new version. Instead it uses your BBID to store your contacts.
As I mentioned, there is no longer ANY backup feature either via media card or Desktop Manager for BBM. It is ALL done via your BBID account.

how to backup using bbid?
It is all done automatically. You have no control over it.
Many have asked for the backup feature to be added back but there is no word whether or not RIM will ever add it back. In theory there is no reason for it as it's all stored automatically via your BBID since you signed into BBM with your BBID.
