not syncing - cant uninstall bdm

i have:


new bb 8320 curve

windows xp sp2

desktop manager 4.7 - newly installed


i cannot sync -- after d.m. attempts to do so it asks me to check configuration settings. when i go in and try to configure it tells me "cannot find system in table file". im confused.


i have the 'windows install cleanup' program. so i uninstalled all versions of d.m.  ...but 4.7 is still there and still not working.


now when i go into my control panel, it for some reason shows d.m. versions 4.2.2 and 4.7 -- but when i try to click 'change/remove' it tells me the programs are not currently installed.


i would be very grateful for any help in getting me to the point where i can sink my 8320 to my desktop. thank you in advance.
