First you need to check if there is such update for your device:
you may look here for the list of providers
It will give you the updates available depending on your device model, you need to choose your service provider (T-mobile, Rogers, Orange...)
Or simply connect your device on your computer, your need to have BlackBerry Desktop software installed.
This software automatically check for the latest software (OS) available for your BlackBerry and ask you if you want to update.

Sorry but Curve 8520 does not support OS 6. For 8520 OS 5 is there which suits it and and run perfectly.
