problem setting up email

hi guys

last sunday night my BIS expired , monday morning i reactivated it , but no emails came through to my blackberry cuvre indicating activation ! so i deleted the email addresses and reloaded them, still nothing , so i did a security wipe on the phone , which was a mistake cause there went all my information ! anyways lucky i have bb protect and managed to recover so of my info ! anyways after the wipe i am able to create email addresses but the icons are not appearing on the home screen. i have spoken to my carrier and the blackberry guys in south africa and they both can't seem to help me ! i have sent the service books and re-registered the phone to the bb wireless network and still nothing. i have deleted the addresses and reloaded them over and over again still nothing i am at a loss , please advise !

Re: problem setting up email

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I almost thought I understood you...then I got lost. So, what is your current state? You have your email addresses all integrated and working, but just can't separate the icons? Or you don't have the emails working at all?

The BB has settings to allow the user to use "unified messaging" (where EVERYTHING is in the single icon main Messages app) or, if the user desires, to have separate icons for different things. So, if for instance you have you emails all working, but they are all intermingled inside of Messages, then you need to select the options that enable the separate icons.

Anyway, understanding exactly the situation you are in will help us to guide you better.

Thanks!

Re: problem setting up email

That remains a bit confusing (especially lacking any punctuation so as to separate your thoughts for me and perhaps help me to understand you better)...functionality of your email and the existence of the separate icon are not directly related things. It is possible to have fully functional email but use the single Messages icon for everything. So I continue to not understand your situation, but I'll take your first words as being what you intend ("no emails being received and sent"). But, let's concentrate on just one thing, OK? Let's get your email working first, and leave the separate icon question for after.

As such, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Delete and Resend Service Books

  • KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
  • If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try again deleting and re-adding your BIS configuration for the affected email accounts, but this time perhaps try, from your BB Browser, this url to do so:

Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support since they are responsible for the delivery of all services for which you are paying them.

Good luck!
