quick question about BB Curve

I am currenty with Roger's and I am switching my data plan to a BB data plan, I am about to purchase a BB Curve from EBay but before I do I am wondering if I need to buy an "unlocked" BB so that it will work with my provider?

Re: quick question about BB Curve

You do need an unlocked device IF it is branded to another carrier.

Or you can use an unlocking vendor (see the Horizon link below this message).

Be careful buying a BB off eBay. Do your research first!

Absolutely. If it is Rogers, yes.

Re: quick question about BB Curve

other then making sure that the phone is in good condition, the water damage tab's are good and so on, is there anything that I should know before purchasing a BB? I just want to make sure that if I buy a BB that everything will work properly with my provider since it's not being bought straight from them?

Have you read the link I took the time to give you, above, about buying a BB on eBay?

There are other considerations, all covered fully in the link/FAQ.

-- Ask if the device has an IT policy on it -- Ask if the device is locked or unlocked. -- If the seller states it is unlocked, ask for a photo showing such. You can direct the seller to this FAQ if they do not know how to check it: 3. When the seller replies to the above questions: -- Call the company that the device is branded to and have them check the IMEI to make sure it is not stolen or lost -- Have them check to see if the PIN and IMEI have been released

and, etc.

Re: quick question about BB Curve

ok, checking out PIN and IMEI is an issue between you and carrier, not eBay.

Confirming that the previous own has removed the PIN from the account is something you should check out.

Knowing if the BB was previously on a BES is something to consider, regarding any residual IT Policy.

If you don't check those things out, you will have work to do once the BB is in your hand.
