"Disconnected" - unable to sync with Windows Surface Pro w/Windows 8 & Office 2010

When connecting my BB with my Windows Surface Pro w/Windows 8 and Office 2010, the BB Desktop Manager states "disconnected." The phone recognizes the connection by prompting with the usual options "USB Drive, Sync Media, Charge Only." I have activated .NET in Windows 8, tried different USB cables, uninstalled and reinstalled BB Desktop Manager three times. Upon reinstalling BB Desktop Manager software I can sync once only. I'm confused.

Hello jvanhalst,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.

The following article will assist your with detecting your BlackBerry smartphone within the BlackBerry Desktop Software on your computer:

Identifying and troubleshooting issues with the BlackBerry Desktop Software detecting a USB connected BlackBerry smartphone - http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB00125

If these steps fail to resolve the issue, you may want to test connecting on another computer.

Cheers,
