"unidentified subscriber" when trying to send SMS

I have the BB Bold 9700, and when I try to send SMS messages to certain numbers, it won't send and comes up with "unidentified subscriber".

I did google the issue, and have tried taking the battery out. I also have the service number under options, so it's not that either.

Anyone know what the problem is? It isn't all numbers, just some.

Hello,

 

Have you tried adding this number to your Address Book. Make sure it is the full number including area code and country code e.g. +12345675656 (no spaces). Then try to send SMS again.

Hello,

 

Yes, the number does include the area and country codes (all my numbers do), but it still doesn't work. It eventually worked when I manually typed the number in, even though the phone still recognised the contact and the name popped up! I don't understand why that should have worked.

 

Anyone else having this issue?

Hi,

 

I would recommend to backup the BlackBerry smartphone. Delete the Address book database from your BlackBerry http://bbry.lv/buj0rQ then try again.

Did anyone try this step?

 

I am reluctant to go down that path yet if I can avoid it. 

 

Seems like a lot of hassle for such a small problem.

 

Having similar difficulties. Service number checks out fine. Reboot doesn't change anything. Have tried deleting and reentering the contact also.

 

Still getting "unidentified subscriber" response.

Tried this step — deleted and then reloaded address book with a new contacts list — but the problem remains.

 

I have also made more than 3 long calls to my carrier, Telkomsel, and visited their customer care center once, but no one can give me an answer.

 

Perhaps the answer is iPhone.

 

So frustrating.

Does anyone have any more information about this problem? Still not resolved.

 

I have followed all steps recommended so far and nothing has worked.

I'm also suffering the same problem - thinking about throwing my phone under a bus....

Would really appreciate any help as I can't text my girlfriend back in the UK and she reckons I'm lying!!!!

go to "Smart Dialing" then under "National Number Length", set this number to greater than 9
