registration

I was led to believe that when you activate your blackberry it would register with RIM.  If that failed the you would go to the Host Routing table and say "register now" and wait for the response.  Well i have been waiting now for some weeks.  Even now I do not get the upper case EDGE GSM only lower case. Can anyone help me. I have a blackberry data plan but cannot use BBM or get email.

Re: registration

Hello,

Given your description, you need to ring up your mobile service provider for formal support. All services are delivered to you via their system, not directly from BlackBerry. What you describe sounds like there is something not quite right with your account configuration with your carrier...and only they have access to their systems so as to find out what is wrong.

Good luck!

Re: registration

The mobile provider cannot get the phone to register therefore, as I understand it, cannot do anything else for me. Believe me they have tried.

Re: registration

Did they escalate to BlackBerry? Did they offer any reasons "why"?

There are several possible reasons:

  • Your BB PIN is reported as lost/stolen...in which case no carrier can register it.
  • Your BB PIN is locked into another carriers BIS system, in which case your carrier cannot assign it to their system.
  • Your BB is somehow incompatible with your carriers network, in which case nothing will be of use.

Each of those can only be looked into by the carrier and/or BlackBerry...no one here, in this user-to-user community, has any access to any systems so as to look "behind the scenes" and see what might be wrong.

Good luck!
