reset

 

I have had my bold 9790 for roughly 8 months now and about a month ago it started randomly restarting itself. It now restarts itself every time it is taken out of the charger and wont work unless it is plugged in. 

 

I have a 24 month contract so cant get a new phone, please someonw help!

Try a new battery. It might be dead.
If it still doesnt work it will be covered under warrenty.

Before trying a new battery, do a battery pull with the one you already have.  Remove the battery while the phone is powered on then replace the battery.

If that doesn't work, reloading the OS might be a good idea however try the battery pull first and post back with your results.

was just about to try battery pull so plugged into charger to switch it on (doesnt if not plugged in) and its now come up with a red x through a battery on the screen and wont swtich on at all....

any suggestions? if i do get it to work how do i do a OS?

It looks like it might be the battery after all.  If your phone is plugged in and it won't switch on, it's either a software issue (which an OS reload would cure) or the battery itself.

 

To do an OS reload, you plug your phone in to your PC and use BlackBerry Desktop Software.  However, before I give you specific instructions, you'd be advised to go ahead and try another battery in your phone to see if that's the issue.
