restore address book

My phone has just been replaced due to damage, but the address book in the desktop manager which has all my work contacts is greyed-out and I cannot check the box to enable me to restore it to my device.  My provider said the file must be corrupt but I do not believe it.  Can anyone help-my work depends on those contacts.  I backed up to the DM 2 days ago but am so frustrated at not being able to restore-I'm on the point of defecting to Apple!

You've connected to the PC and opened Desktop Manager, you're clicking on Device > Restore.

Do you see your last backup listed with the date of your last backup ?

I've looked at my last 10 backups and they're all greyed-out now and untickable, yet when I restored last year I was able to get all the addresses-but not this time!

Ok, is the backup file entirely greyed out and not able to restore, or just the address book?

 

Check this, could be you need to disable the wireless sync of your Address Book.
