screen goes white

For some days now, sometimes I press back button or power buTton the screen will gradually fading away until it turns out to be white background. It comes back to normal upon pressing the lock button and unlock it. It is so annoying especially in the midst of pings or calls. What can I do to rectify this problem? Have done hard reset several times but to no avail.

Re: screen goes white

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Since all you said was "hard reset" (there are varying interpretations of that term), I cannot tell if this is redundant or not...anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

You also should seek out if there is an updated OS for your BB model...you can dig through the various carrier portals here:

You also should consider what happened just before this behavior started...a new app? An update? A theme? Think carefully as the smallest thing could be causal...and undo whatever it was just in case it's indeed causal.

You can also consider an on-device WIPE to see if that clears things up.

You also can consider an OS reload, with either your current or an updated one (via the above portal)...sometimes reloading cures things. It can also be important, after a reload, to slowly add your apps back, giving you time to determine if the behavior comes back...that way, you can perhaps tie it to a specific add on app that you have.

Good luck!

Re: screen goes white

Also try a different battery if you can... I had a family member that had a similar issue with their phone and it turns out it was due to a faulty battery. Once they replaced the battery, the phone stopped fading out to the white screen and they no longer had issues (although in their case, once it faded out to white, the only way to get it working again was a battery pull).
