slow downloads

All of a sudden, my phone (Curve 9360)'s downloads have slowed down completely. I have 3G and internet works fine and at normal pace but my download speed went from about 200kbps to 2kbps and even slower. Why is this?

Re: slow downloads

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

All of your services, including what you mention, are provided to you by your mobile service provider...they control all of your speeds over their data network.

Nevertheless, anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Best!

Re: slow downloads

I have found that there maybe a 2nd service book called "blackberry internet browsing service 2", this shouldn't be there from the research I have done. This I've on my own phone to drop "kps" downloads speed and after deletion of said service the downloads return normal sometimes minutes after deletion.

But follow Sdgardne's advice first.

Re: slow downloads

The only problem with deleting SBs is that the carrier systems are very good at re-pushing them out to their users. But, if it can temporarily improve performance, then that's a good thing indeed!

Cheers!

I'm having the same problem as MBadat but for a while now.. 2 weeks ago it was going slow and then the vodacom customer careline operator helped me and its was fine. Now since this past friday its being doing the same, downloading slower then EDGE on 3G. I tried what the operator told me again and what you have posted in this group but it still seems not to be working. Please help! Thanks in advance

Re: slow downloads

They told me to go to options, then go to device, and then go to advanced system settings. Once in there go to Host Routing Table, highlight "GPRS ZA (655) (65500130)" and then press the menu button and click register. After that it should say "Registration Message Sent." Then before you exit from the Host Routing Table screen, Take out your battery for about 30 sends to 1 minute and then put it back. It word before but not now. I just want to know if maybe its the curves that's having a problem right now??

Re: slow downloads

I have that exact problem.. I sent my 9360 in for software.. Came back today and as soon as I got thru the setup process, tried downloading, but still the same problem.. I will try the abovementioned advice and will post my results, whether good or bad.. I'm also on Vodacom and have heard that they're "throttling" download speeds, "as it affects im apps, making them slow or freeze
