Re: Device not recognized by Desktop Manager

Hi stevecarter and welcome to the forums!

Well you certainly have the best users on the forum to work with!!

If you have desktop manager in the startup group, remove it and start it manually.

Just so I am clear the device is not recognized with desktop manager running, correct?

Start My Computer on the PC without desktop manager running. Plug the Blackberry and

PC together via USB. Do you show a new drive letter? If so what is the letter. Any error messages?

Power the PC off and on, leave the desktop manager down. Do a battery reset on your Blackberry.

On the PC go to start, settings, control panel, system, hardware, device manager. Expand the USB

serial controllers, system devices, ports, network adapters, and modems. (see the picture below,)

Leave the screen up, then again open My Computer, and plug the Blackberry to the PC.

Look back at the device manager screen, any yellow conflict indicators?

Reboot the PC, go back to the device manager screen, start desktop manager, check for yellow conflicts.

Connect the BB to the USB and again check for conflicts.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks,

Re: Device not recognized by Desktop Manager

Try going through the information located in the link below:

www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02640

Of note it appears that service pack 3 is being used and it might be a good idea to download the most recent version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software.  This can be accomplished when following the steps listed in the article above. I hope that helps.
